Accurate Aircraft Weighing Without Towing: A Solution for Tight Hangar Spaces​

In March 2025, CH-Aero was called in by SAMCO Aircraft Maintenance to perform a certified aircraft weighing. The operation came with a clear constraint: the aircraft could not be repositioned with a tow truck due to space limitations in the hangar.

Despite the logistical challenge, the weighing still needed to meet full compliance and accuracy standards. Without the ability to position the aircraft onto weighing platforms using standard procedures, an alternative method was necessary to complete the operation safely and effectively.

Our Solution

CH-Aero worked directly with SAMCO’s engineering team to carry out a manual jack-and-lower procedure, placing the aircraft precisely onto our AW5-2 certified weighing platforms.

This required careful coordination, technical accuracy, and attention to detail, especially in a restricted working environment. Throughout the process, both teams maintained close communication to ensure safety and compliance were upheld at every step.

The aircraft was successfully weighed within the required timeframe, and the operation was completed without compromise to precision and safety.
