Precision Weighing Meets Bundesliga Pride

In early 2024, CH-Aero had the unique opportunity to weigh the newly repainted “Mannschaftsairbus” – the aircraft famously flown by Borussia Dortmund and operated by Eurowings. Commissioned by Altitude Paint Services, the aircraft underwent a full livery transformation, emerging in a bold matte black with striking Borussia yellow, reflecting both national pride and sporting excellence.

This Airbus A320 isn’t just a team transport — it also operates regular commercial flights, making accuracy in its post-paint weighing crucial for both compliance and operational planning.

Our Approach

Altitude Paint Services brought CH-Aero in to perform the final weighing after the aircraft’s repaint. Our role was to ensure a smooth and certified process, capturing the aircraft’s new weight and confirming it was correctly prepared for service. Using our AW5-2 platform system, our team delivered fast, on-site weighing directly at the paint facility.

We collaborated closely with Altitude Paint Services to align our schedule with their delivery timeline, making the process efficient and minimally disruptive — exactly how post-paint operations should be.

The Outcome

The weighing confirmed the aircraft’s balance and readiness for flight. With a pristine new livery and an updated weight & balance report, the “Mannschaftsairbus” was cleared to return to both commercial service and team duty.
